I have long believed that their obsession with Trump effectively ate the party, and allowed it to be hijacked by narcissists and status-obsessives and rent-seekers. EVERY issue is depicted as Trump versus the side of light. But that becomes unsustainable when you look at urban dysfunction or massive fraud or educational collapse (I work in childhood education). THOSE issues cannot be framed to reflect poorly on Trump or the GOP... so they are entirely swept under the rug, and attention is strenuously rediverted onto Satan himself.
For God's sake, LOOK at these policies! It's indicative that even a leftwing Democrat from 30 years ago would, in many cases, consider them to be madness.
